The Elmhurst Cougars are excited to announce Tony Ramirez as Head Coach for our 2022 10U baseball team.

Tony brings to the Cougars an impressive track record, both on and off the field. He played 12 years of Youth Baseball in Chicago, and following solid baseball career at Chicago's Senn High School, he served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tony served in active duty in over six countries, including a campaign during the Gulf War, and is a decorated Gulf War veteran.

After leaving the Marine Corps, Coach Ramirez worked full-time while attending Northeastern Illinois University and playing two years of club baseball. An elbow injury forced him to give up his playing career, but he subsequently coached four years of youth baseball, including Bensenville BBAA, and two seasons with the Burr Ridge Braves Travel organization.

Coach Ramirez's coaching philosophy is all about teaching the game from the "ground-up," feet to head. Every baseball movement starts with sound footwork, which moves up the rest of the body. This includes hitting stance, swinging the bat, the "baseball ready" position, fielding the ball and throwing.

Welcome Coach Ramirez to the Cougars family!
